Wanderlust | Travel Tidbits

So it's a rainy, blustery Sunday night and considering I should be asleep right now, I don't really have time to write out the entirety of my travels last week. However, I thought this would be a quick little informational post about traveling and tips I've learned thus far.

Food | Comida de España

(That's food from Spain in case you all didn't know). So I tried to upload this post last week in my sorority sister Elisa's flat in Madrid but blogging via iPhone didn't work out like I wanted it to. I'm currently sifting through all of my photos from my trips to Exeter, Madrid, Toledo, and El Puerto de Santa Maria, so detailed posts will eventually arrive. However, I thought this would be a fun thing for us all to drool over.

Some deliciousness that I've had in my travels (it's okay to be jealous):

Cider and toffee syrup at an adorable pub in Exeter which basically means Kate and I had Butterbeer in the Leaky Cauldron, no big deal.

 

Some café con leche which became my drink of choice in Spain considering it is so much better than any coffee I've had in England.

I believe that you haven't done Spain right if you haven't gone to a tapas bar and eaten tapas and sangria and thrown napkins on the ground that's all I'm sayin'. It was super crowded and I was slightly claustrophobic which explains the blurry picture.

 My new favorite drink: tinto de verano. It is red wine (and it's allowed to be incredibly bad, for you won't really taste it) and a lemon-y soda, such as Fanta Limon or Sprite. I know it sounds kinda gross but trust me it is a beautiful thing.

When forced to venture outside by myself, I ordered a boccadillo (sandwich) with bacon and cheese and it was heavenly.

I've been craving paella for literally four years, and this did not disappoint.

Chirimoya, which is apparently a very popular Spanish fruit. Having never seen it before, I was a little hesitant to try it, but it was very good.

 

Proof that I had the great honor of being the first person that Elisa has ever cooked for.

Although I didn't capture anything that my host mother made for me, as always everything was absolutely delicious and I will forever have fond memories of this kitchen.

Wanderlust | Mummy and Dad

So, this past week I've had the joy to share my British experience with Mom and Dad. They came on Wednesday, so after class on Thursday I had the whole weekend to spend with them. I can't believe they're back home already!

Beauty | British Beauty #1

So, I like makeup. I mean, I really like makeup. It started last summer, and since then, my love has only grown (blame Kat and Youtube videos). Considering I am in one of the makeup capitals of the world, I knew that I would eventually be breaking down and purchasing some of the most well-known British products out on the beauty market. I've tried to keep it reigned in, so I'm really grateful that the Boots down the road from me is only a small one because then I haven't been truly tempted by the plethora of makeup products that I'm sure are lurking around. However, as you can see, I have bought some essential things, and, ironically enough, I've kept to only a few brands, so I'll be reviewing each product within the brand.

If you don't care in the least about this stuff, then I will be writing about Brighton later tonight. :P Xx

Laying Down the Blueprints

I seriously need to work on this consistent-blogging thing. Life has swept me away into countless hours of folding t-shirts and ringing up customers. I can't believe it's almost the fourth already! We're celebrating it on Saturday so any pics will be uploaded over the weekend instead of tomorrow.


European planning is underway! Had a pretty lengthy convo with my traveling and school partner, Andy, and we've decided that for our winter break we're going to travel to Rome and then Madrid.  I've already discussed my previous adventures in Spain here, and because of that trip I hope to take a small detour to Jerez to visit my host family for a few days as well.

I've also been completely absorbed in Frommer's London 2013 and I cannot WAIT to be constantly surrounded by the magic of London. There are so many things to see and do, and I am so anxious to experience it all. I'm also open to any suggestions!

I'm hoping to have the book finished by next week so that I can give a full review!
